Floor element
In the case of strip or pier foundations factory-made floor elements are used instead of a concrete foundation slab. The floor beams of the elements may me made out of solid wood, solid wood compound beams connected with nail-plates, I-beams, laminated timber or Kerto-wood – the specific choice depends on the width of the span. The floor elements are insulated with glass wool or with some other insulating material and covered from below with moistureproof plywood or some other type of board depending on local conditions and requirements as well as with a wind barrier. From the top the floor elements are covered with moistureproof chipboard or OSB board to which all the necessary layers may be installed on site depending on the purpose of the room, from parquet flooring to ceramic tiles.

Inserted ceilings
Inserted ceilings can be divided into apartment-internal inserted ceilings and inserted ceilings between apartments. Depending on the structure of the building we can deliver inserted ceilings as material and as elements. As a rule, inserted ceilings can be designed as elements. Buildings with attics are an exception as the lower chord of the roof truss along with the inserted ceiling beams forms the inserted ceiling.
Inserted ceilings will be calculated based on load bearing capacity, deflection and vibration. The load-bearing part of the inserted ceiling is the inserted ceiling beam, the choice of which depends on the width of the span. It is possible to use solid wood, solid wood compound beams connected with nail-plates, I-beams, laminated timber or Kerto-wood. Inserted ceilings with wide spans use laminated timber and/or steel beams supported by walls or columns to receive and transfer the loads.
The top layer of inserted ceiling elements is made of moistureproof chipboard or OSB board on which all the necessary layers may be installed on site depending on the purpose of the room, from parquet flooring to ceramic tiles.
For the underside of the inserted ceiling elements we deliver battens and gypsum board or ceiling boarding that will be installed on site after finishing the special works.
The maximum width of factory-produced inserted ceiling elements is 2.4 m and the length is 9 m. The maximum dimensions of the elements are primarily based on restrictions arising from transport equipment, but work safety at the factory and on the construction site also needs to be considered.
Apartment-internal inserted ceiling
Apartment-internal inserted ceilings are usually filled with a 100 mm layer of glass wool that to some extent insulates sounds transmitted through the air as well as the sound of footsteps, since apartment-internal inserted ceilings are not subject to such strictly regulated acoustic insulation and fire safety requirements. Depending on the client’s request the inserted ceiling may be filled with insulating material to the entire height of the beam to achieve better acoustic insulation. The inserted ceilings are also filled with insulating material to the entire height of the beam on the outer wall perimeter to provide sufficient thermal insulation.

Inserted ceilings between apartments
Inserted ceilings between apartments are subject to acoustic insulation and fire safety requirements. It is easy to insulate wooden inserted ceilings against sound transmitted through the air and against fire. The best results in terms of insulating against the sound of footsteps are achieved when the rigid and massive layers of the inserted ceiling floor are alternated with lighter elastic layers.
For inserted ceilings between apartments we deliver special acoustic battens to which double-layered boards are installed on site to provide acoustic insulation and fire resistance.
